Residential recording studio… sort of…

Ever since I started producing other people’s music in my own purpose-built studios, I’ve always wanted to be able to offer a full rural residential recording studio experience. The sort of place you can book in to for a few days, get away from distractions of home, and just focus on making music.

As yet I’ve not had the space available to convert into accommodation and create said residential recording studio. But I got thinking a little ‘out of the box’ recently. My daughter’s piano teacher told me she was offering her rather nice annexe as very affordable holiday accommodation via airbnb (other holiday accommodation providers are available!). Hmmm…

The accommodation for our residential recording studio option is in the picturesque village of Debenham.
The picturesque village of Debenham in Suffolk

It’s in the lovely Suffolk village of Debenham, just four miles from the studio here in Bedfield. Picture postcard high street, pub, bakery, cafes, chip shop, antiques shops… you get the idea.

Musical accommodation

Anna, who owns & runs the accommodation is a musician & music teacher (piano, flute, singing, guitar… probably ukulele if you asked nicely), so she totally ‘gets’ my industry. Looking at the great reviews already coming in on airbnb, she also clearly understands how to create lovely holiday accommodation and look after people so they want to come back.

Public transport?

So, all good, apart from the fact that there isn’t much public transport around here… but fear not! If you don’t drive, or prefer not to, I’m happy to pick you up from one of our nearest train stations (Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Woodbridge). I can also ferry you between the studio and the accommodation in Debenham, of course.

Everything you need

So, if you’re looking to get away from distractions, record your EP/album somewhere different but live nowhere near Suffolk, we may have the perfect answer! An affordable, relaxed, well-equipped recording studio, with accommodation nearby. All set in peaceful countryside, but with great old-fashioned village facilities on-tap. Speaking of which, the studio is also only ten minutes from Ed Sheeran Town…. er, sorry, Framlingham. Go see the “Castle On The Hill” (very small hill if you’re originally from the Derbyshire Peak District like me) while you’re here!

If you’re interested, please don’t book through airbnb. Contact me and I can arrange the studio & accommodation dates together.
